Social Ills Introduction

Creating space where
positive lifestyles can
be practised.

My Life My Choice Foundation is rooted in creating space for South Africans aged 9 to 35 to navigate the social ills currently ravaging communities: poverty, addiction, violence, unsafe peer pressure, teenage pregnancy, school dropout, unemployment and hopelessness.

In many societies, people who are not willing to fall into destructive patterns still lack safe spaces where they can follow a culture of positive lifestyles. MLMC exists to build those spaces through guided age clusters, mentorship, service and disciplined use of free time.

The goal is mental transformation: helping each person put down the Black Bag and pick up a practical toolbox of purpose, emotional intelligence, money sense, faith, nature, soil, service and community responsibility.

Guided Age Clusters

Not a location brand.
A life-stage movement.

MLMC is positioned around the ages and pressures people face across disadvantaged groups. Each cluster needs a different kind of guidance, but the mission is the same: improve mentality, protect choices, and turn free time into constructive culture.

What social ills do when there is no positive space?
📚
Education weakens. Learners lose focus when pressure, hunger, trauma or hopelessness becomes louder than the classroom.
💸
Money habits suffer. Without guidance, free time can become spending, addiction, debt or survival choices instead of investment.
💔
Pregnancy can arrive before readiness. A pregnancy should be a well-thought life decision, not the result of pressure, silence, abuse or lack of guidance.
🏃
Free time becomes risk. MLMC redirects free time into study circles, active living, soil work, service, nature and chapter belonging.
🧠
Self-worth breaks. Many young people begin to believe their environment is stronger than their purpose.
🌍
Culture can change. With trusted spaces, service, nature, soil and mentorship, people practise a different lifestyle until it becomes normal.
Picture This Instead

What your life can look like
when mentality changes.

These outcomes are built through repeated habits: service, soil, nature, money discipline, emotional intelligence and positive use of free time.

01🎓
You finish school.
Your Matric certificate is your passport. It opens doors that stay permanently shut without it. Every year you stay in school is an investment in a version of yourself you haven't met yet.
Education First
02🌱
You work with soil.
Agri-Soil turns time, land and hands into discipline. Young people learn patience, responsibility, food awareness and the dignity of growing something useful.
Agri-Soil
03🌿
You reconnect with nature.
Gospel Nature uses faith, reflection and creation to reset mentality. It gives young people a calm place to hear truth, practise gratitude and choose better habits.
Gospel Nature
04💰
You understand money.
Being money-savvy means understanding that every rand has a direction — and that direction is your choice. We teach young people to invest, save, and build — not just spend and survive.
Money Savvy
05🤝
You become someone's reason.
The Mandela Culture teaches us: helping one person may not change the world, but it changes the world for that one person. When you give back, you grow in ways money cannot buy.
Community Service
06🧠
You know who you are.
Emotional intelligence is the greatest superpower a young person can develop. When you know your own triggers and can navigate difficult relationships — nothing and nobody can derail you.
Emotional Intelligence
Girls, Choice and Recovery

Pregnancy should be a prepared decision, not a stolen future.

MLMC does not shame young mothers. It also refuses to normalise a world where girls lose school, safety, confidence and opportunity because no positive space reached them early enough.

The movement exists to help girls think before pressure becomes a permanent consequence, and to help those already affected recover direction, dignity and support.

Before: honest conversations, confidence, body awareness, peer-pressure resistance and safe adults.
During crisis: no judgement, referral support, family conversation and protection of school continuity.
After: return-to-study encouragement, emotional recovery, practical routines and community belonging.
"When a girl becomes pregnant, her present and future change radically, and rarely for the better. Her education may end, her job prospects evaporate, and her vulnerabilities to poverty multiply. We refuse to accept this as inevitable."
— Inspired by Dr. Babatunde Osotimehin, U.N. Under-Secretary General · The reason MLMC was founded in 2017

What We Live By

The four virtues of every
MLMC Ambassador.

These are not just words. They are a daily commitment. A way of walking through the world with purpose and dignity.

🌍
Service
"Mandela Culture"
Helping one person may not change the world — but it will change the world for that one person. Service is not an obligation. It is the highest expression of who we are.
🎒
Sacrifice
"Drop the Black Bag"
We are what we repeatedly do and say. Sacrificing short-term pleasure for long-term freedom is the single most powerful choice a young person can make.
🎯
Purpose
"Today's choices"
Today's choices define tomorrow's reality. The road to a bright future is laid one brick at a time. You don't need to see the whole staircase — just take the next step.
Attitude
"Law of Attraction"
If you can imagine it, you can experience it in reality. Your attitude is the only thing in life that is entirely, completely, and always yours to choose. Choose it well.
Voices of Change

What happens when young people choose different.
